Around the Reculée, hostile nature and beauty
The site offers numerous vantage points to contemplate the Reculée. From the viewpoints or the bottom of the valley, from the surrounding villages, discover the beauty of a landscape that is testimony to the violence of the past. Here is a list of all the places you mustn't miss:
The Cascade des Tufs: this waterfall is said to be the favourite bathing spot of the mythical Vouivre creature.
The Belvédère du Cirque du Fer à Cheval:overlooking the valley 200 metres above, this spot offers a breathtaking view of the Reculée.
The village of La Châtelaine: visit the feudal castle ruins and the belvédère de la Châtelaine viewpoint overlooking the villages of Les Planches and Mesnay and Saône plains beyond.
La Roche du Feu: towering over the Cul du Bray where the Grand Mont stream runs. Gazing to the west, towards Arbois, nature gives way to humans. Vineyards, railway tracks and quarries are evidence of agricultural and industrial activities.
The surrounding areas
Cul du Bray: this site offers visitors a series of gour pools and small cascades.
Village of Les Planches-près-Arbois: you simply must not miss this village on the way to the major source of the Cuisance and the caves. You will be charmed by its traditional architecture and enchanting river.

The Cascade du Dérochoir: on the way back to Arbois along the bottom of the valley, one last detour via this waterfall will be the high point of your trip.
At the heart of the valley
The village of Arbois: its walls, the edges of the Cuisance and, most importantly, the home of Louis Pasteur.
