The Reculée des Planches, an exceptional geological site

Shaped on a geological scale by the erosion of limestone, the Reculée des Planches shows the characteristic relief of the karstic Jura plateau. The Jura's highest box canyon delimits a steep-sided valley, closed by the Cul des Forges and Cul du Bray. Birds of prey (peregrine falcons, jackdaws, etc.) flock to the cliffs which provide a haven for nesting. Bring your binoculars!

As you make your way to the bottom of the valley, you can admire the many waterfalls sustained by the major source of the Cuisance, the underground river that has carved out the Grotte des Planches. It would be a shame not to stop at the foot of the Tufs waterfall. The more energetic of you can also take one of the signposted hiking trails.
Pass by the Fer à Cheval viewpoint or the village of La Châtelaine to experience the wonder of the Reculée des Planches.
